El Himno de Mameli o Il Canto degli Italiani (El canto de los italianos en italiano) es el Himno Nacional de Italia, cuya letra fue escrita por Goffredo Mameli, y cuya música fue compuesta por Michele Novaro. El Himno es conocido popularmente como Fratelli d’Italia (Hermanos de Italia), por su primer verso o Inno di Mameli por el autor de su letra.
Durante la dictadura de Mussolini, este himno fue usado por las organizaciones antifascistas en contraposición de la Marcha Real y la Giovinezza, debido a su contenido nítidamente liberal y republicano, pese a ello el himno era también un canto recurrente en los círculos fascistas por su carga de patriotismo y unidad nacional.

Il Canto degli Italiani (The Song of the Italians) is the Italian national anthem. It is best known among Italians as Inno di Mameli (Mameli’s Hymn), after the author of the lyrics, or Fratelli d’Italia (Brothers of Italy), from its opening line. The words were written in the autumn of 1847 in Genoa, by the then 20-year-old student and patriot Goffredo Mameli, in a climate of popular struggle for unification and independence of Italy which foreshadowed the war against Austria. Two months later, they were set to music in Turin by another Genoese, Michele Novaro. The hymn enjoyed widespread popularity throughout the period of the Risorgimento and in the following decades. Nevertheless, after the Italian Unification in 1861, the adopted national anthem was the Marcia Reale (Royal March), official hymn of the House of Savoy composed in 1831 to order of Carlo Alberto di Savoia. After the Second World War, Italy became a republic, and on 12 October 1946, Il Canto degli Italiani was provisionally chosen as the country’s new national anthem.

Fratelli d’Italia (‚Brüder Italiens’, eigentlich Il Canto degli Italiani ‚Das Lied der Italiener’) ist die Nationalhymne Italiens. Der Text stammt von Goffredo Mameli (weshalb die Hymne auch als Inno di Mameli bekannt ist), die Melodie entstammt der Feder von Michele Novaro. Die Nationalhymne entstand, ähnlich wie in Deutschland, im Umfeld der romantischen nationalistischen Bewegungen in Italien Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts. Das Stück wurde im Herbst 1847 als Kampflied der Risorgimento-Bewegung vom patriotischen Studenten Mameli aus Genua geschrieben und wenig später in Turin durch Novaro vertont. Es entstand unter dem Eindruck des bevorstehenden Freiheitskrieges gegen das Kaisertum Österreich. Das komponierte Lied war dabei das Kampflied der Widerständler.
